Steve's Tech Stuff LLC ("we", "us", or "our") builds practical, user-focused mobile applications and digital tools. This Privacy Policy applies to all mobile software applications distributed under our developer name across application distribution platforms, including the Samsung Galaxy Store, Google Play, and related channels.
We design our applications with a privacy-by-design, local-first philosophy. We believe your software should do what it says without secretly cataloging your behavior or extracting personal telemetry.
Our Commitment: We do not sell, rent, monetize, or broker your personal information. We do not engage in cross-app tracking, device fingerprinting, or behavioral advertising profiling.
The majority of our applications are designed to operate without user account registration, passwords, or personal identity submission.
A. Information You Provide Voluntarily
If you reach out to us for technical assistance, feature suggestions, or general inquiries via email, we collect your email address and any details you choose to include in your message. We use this information solely to troubleshoot issues and respond to your inquiry.
B. Information Processed Locally on Your Device
Depending on the application you use, certain data is created and processed strictly within your device's sandboxed local storage:
- User Configurations & Preferences: Settings such as theme selections, display units, sound volume, target languages, active profiles, or favorites.
- Functional Content: Training routines, saved commands, preset video resolutions, audio cues, or network port preferences.
- Session State: Transient runtime state necessary to maintain app stability and resume work between app sessions.
This information never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers during standard operation.
Our applications only request Android operating system permissions when strictly necessary to deliver specific, user-initiated features. When an application requests an Android runtime permission, the purpose is transparent and directly tied to the app's functionality:
| Permission |
Purpose / Used In |
Data Handling |
| Audio & Speaker Playback |
Language/audio companions (e.g. Sophie Speaks) to play native phonetic audio clips and pronunciation cues. |
Plays locally bundled audio files. No audio recording or external telemetry. |
| Camera |
Camera & video tools (e.g. OBS Camera) to capture live video feeds upon user request. |
Streamed directly to the user's chosen local network destination (e.g. OBS Studio). Never transmitted to us or cloud servers. |
| Microphone / Audio Capture |
Live streaming utilities to transmit audio accompanying live video feeds. |
Processed in real-time for live streaming. We never store, listen to, or upload your audio recordings. |
| Local Network / Wi-Fi |
Local streaming tools to communicate with receivers on your local network (LAN) over user-configured ports. |
Communication stays entirely on your private local network. No external reporting of your LAN topology. |
| Storage / Media Access |
Exporting or importing user presets or saving snapshots when explicitly triggered by the user. |
Confined to user-selected media or app-specific sandboxed directories. |
Permission Control: You can review, grant, or revoke permissions at any time through your Android device settings (navigate to Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Permissions). Denying optional permissions may limit corresponding features (such as video capture in camera apps) but will not disable unrelated features.
Our applications store user preferences, custom lists, and application states locally using Android's secure sandboxed storage mechanisms (such as Jetpack DataStore, SharedPreferences, or local SQLite/Room databases).
- You have full control over this data through the app's in-app controls or by resetting app state.
- You can permanently purge all locally stored application information at any time by going to Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Storage → Clear Storage / Clear Data, or by uninstalling the application.
Depending on your device configuration and operating system settings, Android's built-in Auto Backup or Samsung Cloud device-transfer service may back up app preferences to your designated cloud backup provider (e.g. Google Drive or Samsung Cloud).
This backup allows your application settings to be seamlessly restored if you switch or restore your device. These backup operations are managed exclusively by the Android operating system and your device manufacturer under their respective privacy policies. You can manage or disable device-level backups at any time in your device's system settings.
Any purchase, paid app download, or in-app billing transaction conducted through the Samsung Galaxy Store is processed directly by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. in accordance with the Samsung Galaxy Store Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Steve's Tech Stuff LLC does not collect, receive, process, or store credit card numbers, banking details, or billing addresses. We receive only generalized transaction status confirmations or purchase tokens from the store platform to unlock paid entitlements.
To maintain software quality, resolve bugs, and ensure hardware compatibility across diverse Android device configurations, we may access aggregated, de-identified technical reports provided by developer portals (such as the Samsung Seller Portal or Google Play Console).
These reports include non-personally identifiable technical details such as device model, operating system build, stack trace exceptions, and memory fault codes. This data cannot be used to identify individual users and is utilized strictly for software quality assurance and bug fixes.
Our applications are built for general audiences or specialized utility needs and do not knowingly collect, solicit, or maintain personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom), in strict compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), GDPR-K, and applicable child protection regulations.
Our companion and utility apps (including educational language tools like Sophie Speaks) operate offline without accounts, personal logins, or social tracking. If a parent or guardian believes that a child has inadvertently contacted us with personal information, please contact us immediately at support@stevestechstuff.net, and we will promptly delete that communication.
Our applications or web properties may occasionally feature links to external websites, documentation, or developer profiles (such as our official website at stevestechstuff.net or app store listings).
Clicking an external link directs you away from our application. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party website you visit.
Because our apps store your preferences and configurations locally on your device:
- Local Data Retention: Data remains in the app's local sandbox for as long as the application remains installed, unless explicitly deleted through the app or system settings.
- Instant Data Deletion: You can completely erase all data by clearing the application storage via Android Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Storage → Clear Data, or by simply uninstalling the application from your device.
- Support Communications: Email correspondence sent to our support desk is retained only as long as necessary to address your inquiry or comply with legal requirements, after which it is archived or deleted.
We take the security of your data seriously. We adhere to industry-standard security practices, including:
- Utilizing Android's internal application sandboxing, which prevents unauthorized apps from reading or manipulating your app data.
- Employing HTTPS / TLS encryption for any network transmission across public networks.
- Enforcing principle-of-least-privilege across all application manifests and dependencies.
Depending on your jurisdiction (such as California, the European Economic Area, the UK, and other regions with applicable privacy frameworks), you have specific statutory rights regarding your personal information, including:
- The right to know what personal information is collected, disclosed, or retained.
- The right to request deletion or correction of your personal data.
- The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal data (Note: We do not sell or share your data).
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.
Because our apps operate without accounts or personal identifiers, most data is already under your immediate, exclusive control on your local device. To exercise any privacy rights regarding support correspondence or general inquiries, email us at support@stevestechstuff.net.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect modifications in our software offerings, technological standards, platform store policies, or applicable laws.
When updates are published, the "Last Updated" and "Effective Date" at the top of this document will be revised accordingly. The most current version will always remain accessible at:
